Healing Emotional Pain – A Guidance For Your Well-Being

I’m really sorry for posting very very very late here. After a not-so-long time I am back here. Today I’m going to share with you the idea of healing those emotional wounds haunting us since ages.

What is emotional pain?

Emotional pain is an unpleasant feeling of a non-physical origin, which causes sadness, depression, mental stress and agony. As it is psychological/ non-physical in origin, it is felt inside of a human, in their mental, emotional and spiritual planes.

What causes emotional pain?

As it is felt psychologically, often the causes of emotional pain are enroute from unsatisfied or frustrated psychological needs. These psychological causes are listed as proposed by Henry Murray are, the need for love, autonomy, achievement, and other reasons like shame, heartbreak, loneliness, embarrassment and harm.

Emotional pain would fade as times passes. But the spooky fact we should know that emotional pain can become an addiction. I know, it sounds unbelievable. But trust me, it’s true. Recent research show that some people get addicted to emotional pain. So emotional pain cannot be considered as a silly problem. It’s can be life-taking if not treated well.

How emotional pain affects you?

Emotional pain does not only disturbs you mentally and emotionally, but it has a huge impact on your physical and spiritual well-being.

On psychological plane, emotional pain can cause severe problems like depression, anxiety, mood swings and bi-polar disorder and mental illness at its extreme.

On the other hand emotional pain affects your physical health in a scary way. Holding such unpleasant feelings can cause high blood pressure, physical pain, breathing and eating disorders, malnutrition, severe headache and body pain, etc.

Spiritually, emotional pain causes bad vibrations and feelings. It causes low self-esteem, low self-love, makes you less careful, pulls you away from happiness.

So let’s see

How to heal emotional pain?

  • Find out the cause.
    Sit in a calm atmosphere and analyze yourself in the tranquility. Do some inner search and find out what caused the pain.
  • Accept the reality.
    Accept the pain. Accept the incident which caused the pain. You should accept it before you change it.
  • Forgive.
    Forgiveness is the key to healing. Forgive the people who caused you pain. Forgive the situation. Forgive yourself if you think you’ve done any mistakes. Mistakes can be happened to anyone. Never regret about it. Forgive everything.
  • Respect your feelings.
    Respect your feelings. It is valid. You know that you’re feeling something. It is there within you for and because of a reason. Respect it and believe that you have something to learn from it.
  • Feel the pain.
    Running away from the problem makes it even worse. Avoiding your feelings would make it an emotional baggage causing a huge burst which can bid your relationships and well-being to danger. Allow yourself to feel the pain. It’s natural to have hurt. Let the pain flow through you. Let it cleanse you. If you want to cry, cry out loud. Let those eye become alive again. Let the feelings come and go.
  • Be kind to yourself and have patience.
    Healing is long process and it takes time. You have to be patient with the process. Also you should show some kindness to yourself. Don’t be mad at yourself when the emotional pain is triggered.
  • Show some love to yourself. Be the romeo of yourself 😂. The best investment one can make is in themselves. Love yourself. Do some acts of self-love. (Read my post on self-love here)
  • Turn your focus to something else.
    You can’t get rid of it if you’re thinking about it 24×7. You have to focus your mind to some other things. You can adapt a new hobby like dancing, reading, watching movies and tv shows, drawing and painting, learning something new. Or take out that notepad and pen, wake up the writer in you.
  • Practice gratitude.
    We often fail to see the blessings we have around us. Instead our mind focus on what lost. Rewire your brain with gratitude. Be grateful to universe for all the blessings you have in your life. Be grateful for the food, water, education, safe shelter to live, the loving people around you, etc. Be grateful for everything. Gratitude brings positivity. Affirm “I am thankful for …….” Or “Thank you universe/god for …………”. Rewire yourself with gratitude.
